It’s hard to pry much information from my Dad. The fact that I didn’t know about this thing until a month ago is testament to that. My grandfather apparently got it for being the Cultural Affairs Attache for GB. I’m fairly sure he was an Attache with the British Ambassador to Japan. Beyond that I don’t know why he got it, my dad just says “service.” That’s all I’m gonna get. If you have any insights, I’d be more than happy to hear them. It’s a CVO which I think means Commander of the Victorian Order. I also think that means he was not knighted.
This is the main medal.
Then there is this green one behind the velvet backing, along with an official strap and instructions on how to wear the medals.
This is a bad picture, but I’m too lazy to upload a better one. If you can’t be bothered to read it it just explains how the medals are meant to be worn, under what circumstances.
